Rob Hayes CBS '95, General Partner, First Round Capital (Early Stage Venture Capital)
Rob joined First Round Capital in 2006 from Omidyar Network where he was their first venture investor. He led most of Omidyar Network's initial venture capital deals and later built and ran the technology investing group. Prior to joining Omidyar Network in 2004, Rob was at Palm where he started up their corporate venture fund. While in that role he also managed the strategy effort around Palm OS that led to the spinout of PalmSource. Rob started at Palm as product manager for the initial device-independent releases of Palm OS. During this time, Rob was responsible for the versions of Palm OS on dozens of devices including the initial Treo products. Rob previously spearheaded complex, system-level product development efforts at companies such as Geoworks and Go Corp where he focused on building products for the Japanese market. He began his career with the Japan External Trade Organization, studying international trade issues and building relationships between US and Japanese businesses, at a time when trade friction between the two countries was at its peak.
Robert Smith CBS '94, Founder & Managing Partner, Vista Equity Partners (Private Equity)
Robert founded Vista Equity Partners in 2000. Prior to founding Vista, Robert was the Co-Head of the Enterprise Systems and Storage sector for Goldman, Sachs & Co's investment banking division. While at Goldman, he executed and advised on merger and acquisition activity across a broad range of technology segments and was responsible for conflict clearance, team staffing, recruiting, marketing strategy, and fee schedule integrity. Prior to Goldman, Robert worked at Kraft General Foods (KGF) in strategic planning and development. He served as Technical Supervisor in the Food Service Division and was responsible for product, equipment and process development. While at KGF, he also developed a proprietary processing technology, launched four product reformulations, integrated processing technology from a major European acquisition and designed and implemented a distribution acquisition strategy. He is the principal inventor on two United States and two European patents.
Hans Swildens CBS '95, Founder & Managing Partner, Industry Ventures (Secondary, Special Situations)
Hans founded Industry Ventures in 2000 and focuses on secondary direct investment opportunities and limited partnership interests. Hans has sourced and led the acquisition of over $500 million of secondary venture investments. These transactions include purchasing corporate venture capital funds, restructuring partnership interests for venture capital funds, acquiring portfolios of Limited Partnership interests, purchasing founder's equity interests and structuring special situation investments with General Partners and Limited Partners. The firm manages investments in over eighty venture capital partnerships and seventy five private companies. Prior to Industry Ventures, Hans was a successful entrepreneur who co-founded and acted as President of Microline Software which was acquired by Blaze Software (which completed a successful initial public offering and was acquired by Fair Isaac - NYSE: FIC).

Gustavo rejoined Kennet in 2008 with a decade of experience working with high-growth technology companies from different vantage points, including financial advisor, employee, and venture investor. Gustavo focuses on investments in software, Internet and technology-enabled services and works extensively with portfolio companies on optimizing the efficiency of their respective sales models. He started his venture capital career at Trinity Ventures where he primarily concentrated on seed and pre-revenue technology companies. Prior to venture capital, Gustavo worked in marketing and business development at Saltare, an enterprise software company funded by DFJ and Sutter Hill. He began his career in the technology investment banking division of Robertson Stephens.
